What is the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI)?
The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) is a multi-stakeholder initiative established in June 2020 to guide the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence (AI). It currently has 29 member countries including major economies like India, United States, United Kingdom, European Union etc.
GPAI was launched by Canada and France at the 2018 G7 Summit with the key goal to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical applications of AI technologies. Through its organizational structure consisting of a Governing Council, Steering Committee, OECD Secretariat and Working Groups, GPAI provides the framework and platform for international collaboration on AI priorities and policies.

What is the organizational structure of GPAI?
The organizational structure of Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) consists of multiple key components providing the governance and expertise foundations. It has a Governing Council and Steering Committee, supported by an OECD Secretariat to guide strategy and operations.
GPAI also houses two Centers of Expertise – one in Montreal (CEIMIA) and one in Paris (INRIA) focused on driving research and practical projects.
